Fien Verdoodt (Fien.Verdoodt@ugent.be) studeerde af als dierenarts aan de faculteit Diergeneeskunde (Universiteit Gent) in juli 2020. Tijdens haar studie bracht ze één semester door aan het ‘Small animal teaching hospital’ van de Universiteit van Liverpool. Daarnaast engageerde ze zich als bestuurslid van VSGk in 2018-2019. Dankzij het FWO startte ze in november 2020 met veel enthousiasme met haar doctoraatsonderzoek over de rol van voeding en het intestinale microbioom op idiopathische epilepsie bij de hond. Dit onderzoek is een uitdagende en multidisciplinaire studie onder begeleiding van prof. dr. Myriam Hesta, dr. Sofie Bhatti en prof. dr. Luc Van Ham.

EN - Doctoral Candidate

Fien Verdoodt (Fien.Verdoodt@ugent.be) graduated as a veterinarian from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Ghent University) in July 2020. During her studies, she spent one semester at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital at the University of Liverpool. She also served on the board of the VSGk (Association of Veterinary Medicine) in 2018-2019. Thanks to the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), she enthusiastically began her doctoral research on the role of nutrition and the intestinal microbiome in canine idiopathic epilepsy in November 2020. This challenging and multidisciplinary research project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Myriam Hesta, Dr. Sofie Bhatti, and Prof. Dr. Luc Van Ham.

Fien Verdoodt (Fien.Verdoodt@ugent.be) a obtenu son diplôme de vétérinaire à la Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire de l'Université de Gand en juillet 2020. Durant ses études, elle a passé un semestre à l'Hôpital Universitaire pour Petits Animaux de l'Université de Liverpool. Elle a également siégé au conseil d'administration de la VSGk (Association de Médecine Vétérinaire) en 2018-2019. Grâce à la Fondation Flamande pour la Recherche (FWO), elle a entamé avec enthousiasme ses recherches doctorales sur le rôle de la nutrition et du microbiome intestinal dans l'épilepsie idiopathique canine en novembre 2020. Ce projet de recherche ambitieux et multidisciplinaire est supervisé par les professeurs Myriam Hesta, Sofie Bhatti et Luc Van Ham.
