Behaviour in Small Companion Animals

Is your animal displaying behaviour that is difficult to manage or that affects the welfare or safety of you, your family, or other animals? Is your animal experiencing reduced welfare as a result of its own behaviour? Since 2021, our faculty has been offering specialized consultations in veterinary behavioural medicine to help address these concerns in a structured and evidence-based manner.

Behavioural consultations are conducted by a team led by Prof. Dr. Anouck Haverbeke, veterinarian, PhD in ethology, and EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine. These consultations are aligned with the scientific expertise available within the faculty, including that of the Research Group for Ethology and Animal Welfare (Prof. Dr. Christel Moons) and the Department of Exotic Animals (Dr. Tom Hellebuyck).

After an in-depth intake interview, our team of veterinarians analyses the problematic behaviour of your animal and works with you to develop a tailored treatment plan.

Our team is passionate about the prevention of behavioural and medical problems and is committed to improving the welfare of animals and their relationship with humans.

Appointments take place on Thursday or Friday mornings at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Salisburylaan 133, 9820 Merelbeke.
