Nutrition horses (vet)

Horse owners can come to us for nutritional support and advice, both for healthy and sick animals when an appropriate diet is part of the treatment.

For sick animals this is always done in cooperation with the referring veterinarian. To make up an optimal advice we depend on the results of the clinical examination and further investigations. Please provide this info along with the owner or forward it in advance to

In some cases an adapted diet will be the only treatment (e.g. obesity). In many other cases, a modified diet will be an important part of the treatment. By combining medical treatment with an adapted diet, the chances of success are much higher. In addition, there is of course attention to prevention e.g. in animals with colic.

When can you refer to us?

You can refer a healthy or sick patient to us for nutrition advice when you do not have a solution or simply when you do not have the time to answer all the owner's nutrition-related questions. We will gladly take this task from you at that time so that we can return a satisfied client to you afterwards.

What can you expect from us?

A cooperation with us will save you as a veterinarian a lot of time and the owner will receive individual, independent and quality nutritional advice. Indeed, our veterinary nutritionists are supervised by two European specialists in animal nutrition (ECVCN diplomats).

We compare different commercial feeds and supplements, contact the manufacturer if necessary, and find the best dietary solution (concentrates, roughage, supplements and nutritional management) for your patient on an individual basis. We also do the necessary calculations and spend ample time to answer all the owner's nutritional questions. In addition, we can also assist the owner and you in interpreting analyses of forages.

If follow-up is needed, it can be done in consultation with you and the owner both with us and with you.

How do you forward a patient?

Our service always works by appointment. Booking an appointment is based on availability from Monday to Friday (preferably) each time from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. by dialling 0032 (0)9 264 78 26. In certain cases, a visit to the faculty is not necessary and we can work together remotely.
